Wirgten Enters North American market with pavers

German manufacturer Wirtgen GmbH enters the US slipform paving market this year with two newly designed small slipform paver models designed specifically to meet the requirements of local regulation and US contractors.

The USA subsidiary, Wirtgen America, unveiled the new SP 15 and SP 25 concrete pavers at the World of Concrete in Las Vegas. These slipform pavers will only be available for the North American market.

Recognising the demands of US contractors for productivity, versatility and quality of concrete finish, Wirtgen has made the SP 15 and SP 25 true multipurpose machines. They can be used to lay curbs and gutters, barriers, sidewalks, V-ditches, slabs and for many special applications. Another feature is the speed at which both models can be configured on-site for left- or right-side pouring.

The SP 15 has a maximum paving width of 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in) for offset applications, maximum curb/parapet placement height of 1.3 m (4 ft 3 in), and has an operating weight of 12,950 kg (28,550 lb) with trimmer, auger conveyor plus curb and gutter mold.

Wirtgen claims that the SP 15 has best-in-class trimming capacity, quick on-site changes for left or right side pouring, unsurpassed jobsite mobility, and pouring the tightest, smoothest radius in the industry with all-track steering and positioning.

The larger SP 25 has a maximum paving width of 3.5 m (11 ft 6 in), maximum curb/parapet placement height of 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in) and weighs 17,962 kg (39,600 lb). This model also features quick on-site changes to left or right side pouring. The machine’s modular design allows for a wide array of applications with either three or four tracks.

Both machines feature an Eco mode which matches engine rpm to machine power requirements, thus saving fuel and reducing emissions.
