In January 2012, Kramer launched two new wheel loader models – the 550 and 650, which the company says “offer customers the full loader performance of a ‘big machine’ but in a more compact design and with an optimized power-to-weight ratio.” Kramer also say that in the 0.6 m³ class that are unique on the market, their performance data matches that of the largest wheel loader segment in the compact class (50 to 60 HP) yet they boast very compact dimensions and minimal operating weight. The 550 and 650 are aimed mainly at customers in the construction industry, the gardening and landscaping sector, rental parks, and local authorities. CEO Karl Friedrich Hauri takes up the story: “They do more than embody all our many years of expertise in the development of compact machinery; they also demonstrate our sensitivity to the needs of the market and our practical, customer-focused implementation of this expertise. Initial feedback is so positive that we already expect both models to become best-sellers.” Some bold claims that Contractors World have not been able to verify but the company obviously believes in the products total capabilities. Kramer’s philosophy is to take those factors that are essential to the user and turns them into maxims for the design of its products. Accordingly, the net-weight-to-payload ratio of these machines is good. A non-articulated chassis Just like the larger models in the Kramer range, the compact models also use a non-articulated chassis. The company says that this increases stability due to the constant center of gravity and means that even in very tight curves imbalance or, in extreme cases, tipping over, is avoided.
