Already, around a year before the first bauma Africa (September 18-21, 2013) gets under way at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, it is clear that the originally planned 20,000 square meters of exhibition space will have to be extended. One reason for this is the sheer number of registrations received so far from key players.

Gary Bell, Chief Executive at Bell Equipment, sees bauma Africa as a real opportunity for his company.

"An international exhibition of this stature in sub-Saharan Africa has been long awaited and we at Bell Equipment look forward to supporting an event which will have positive spin-offs for the region, the construction industry and our customers."

The premiere of bauma Africa is attracting great interest in the sector, both at home and abroad: the South African Construction and Mining Equipment Suppliers' Association (CONMESA) expressly welcomes the premiere of bauma Africa, the International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines and Construction Vehicles. A range of other national and international associations and organizations are also supporting the new sector event, which takes place in September 2013 in Johannesburg. CONMESA was founded in 1992 and it currently has 20 members who represent the most important local and international companies in the construction and mining industry in South Africa.

Building on the undeniable success of the internationally famous Bauma fairs which take place in Germany every three eyar, the organisers are since established the bran in China, and the Middle East. Now they are further expanding their expertise with a new 'Bauma' for Africa.

Messe München International is expanding its international network for the construction machinery sector with the launch of a new event in South Africa. The first bauma Africa takes place in September 2013 in Johannesburg. Messe München will set up a subsidiary in South Africa to implement this event.

The orgnisation expects the first edition of this International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines and Construction Vehicles to attract around 200 exhibitors and to take up around 20,000 square meters of exhibition space. In terms of attendees, the show is directed primarily at customers from Sub-Saharan Africa.

One hundred and fifty Bell Equipment customers and media representatives gathered at the Bell Equipment Sales Southern Africa (BESSA) head offices at Jet Park in mid-November 2011 to officially welcome Liebherr excavators to the Bell product offering.

The South African manufacturer signed a distribution agreement in May with Liebherr, one of the world’s leading construction companies, which will see Bell distributing Liebherr’s tracked hydraulic excavators ranging from 20t to 85t, namely the R906C to the R974C into the Southern African and African markets.

Guests at the product launch were given a tour of Bell Equipment’s state-of-the-art Global Logistics Centre, which will play an integral role insofar as product and parts support for the Liebherr excavators, as it does for the rest of the Bell product range.

CDE announce distribution agreement for Africa with Pilot Crushtec

CDE have announced the addition of Pilot Crushtec to their global distributor network with responsibility for South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. Pilot Crushtec will promote the full range of CDE washing equipment including the Evowash sand washing plant, Prograde screens, M2500 mobile washing plant, Rotomax logwashers and Aquacycle thickeners.

Commenting on the announcement CDE sales manager for Africa, Mr Des Crawford said “We are happy to welcome Pilot Crushtec to our distributor network as we seek to build on the early success we have had in Africa to date.”
