Komatsu America Corp. introduces the HM400-3 articulated truck. With a net horsepower of 469 hp (350 kW), the HM400-3 is powered by a Komatsu SAA6D140E-6 engine and is EPA Tier 4 Interim and EU Stage 3B emissions certified. Komatsu reports nets sales up 28.7%

Komatsu Ltd. has announced its business results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2011.

During the fiscal year under review, Komatsu recorded consolidated net sales of JPY1,843.1 billion (USD22,206 million, at USD1=JPY83), up 28.7% from the previous fiscal year. While the Japanese currency appreciated sharply against key currencies, the company did incur a loss resulting from the damages by the Great East Japan Earthquake and the subsequent tsunami.

The board of directors of Komatsu Australia Pty Ltd has announced the appointment of Sean Taylor as managing director. Mr Taylor, who has been general manager of the company’s construction and utility division for the past seven years, has more than 25 years’ experience in the earthmoving and construction industry. According to the board of Komatsu Australia, his appointment comes at a pivotal time for Komatsu in this region and reflects the depth of capability within the company’s local management team. Mr Taylor assumes all the responsibilities held by the company’s outgoing president Bill Pike, who has resigned to pursue other challenges. Komatsu merges divisions

Komatsu Ltd. has announced the merger of Komatsu Utility Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary in producing and marketing forklift trucks and mini construction equipment, with Komatsu Ltd. in the form of simplified absorption-type merger to be effective April 1, 2011. This decision is to provide for new growth into the future, Komatsu has decided to carry out an absorption-type merger and organizationally integrate the utility equipment business. Under a new organizational framework, Komatsu is going to speed up the operational reinforcement in growing overseas markets, further enhance the product competitiveness and efficiency of development by integrating its development operations, and strengthening its human resource development efforts.
